People mostly dont want to play a clone/remake of their favourite game, so its better to have something unique, especially on the lines of gameplay. And you should make a good plan for every aspect of the gameplay. 2)Preplan your requirements, like dont make half the game, and then realise you need to add a inventory in there....it becomes a total mess.( http://www.lotro100gold.com
) 3)Back on to the game..... make the fighting and such in realtime, i would realy love that.

) 4)Start with two or three pokemons and use a database for them. Means use a file, ini, or ingame array, to store info about the pokemons. This will enable you to make a flexible system so that you can add more stuff later.

5) Pay special attention to the levelling system, as that is a very major part. It is the thing that players are addicted too, and also it is the reason your players can get bored.( http://www.lotro100gold.com
) 6)Put in powerups and surprises, and as much interaction with the environment as you can.
