XBox Gets Reals (What Your Game Box Thinks About When You're Not Around)

Filed in archive Misc on April 30, 2009

Personification is such a simple literary device. You take an animal or an inanimate object and you give it a voice and a personality. Simple, but effective.

We've all seen it. Two dogs in the park having a conversation about how to take care of their masters. The new diet drink in the fridge takes charge and throws out the cupcakes and makes friends with the carrots. The car that is left alone in the airport parking lot, sitting there jealously wondering what make and model its owner will rent at the other end of the flight.

Now XBox comes to life, too...

XBox's latest marketing tool is a video where you're supported to picture a classroom full of XBox units watching a training video on how to take care of their reals. That's you and me. They're games (and the video makes clear that games are a step up the evolutionary ladder from us), and we're reals.

The video is entertaining. It could even make you stop taking your XBox for granted.
