Sony Online Entertainment announces Ramayan 3392 A.D.

Sony Online Entertainment, known in PC realms for the ever popular Everquest series (/pizza please!), have teamed up with Virgin Comics to develop and produce an online RPG based on the popular series, Ramayan 3392 A.D. Virgin will work closely with the team as creative directors to ensure the mythology-based comic is brought to life accurately.

For those unaware of Ramayan 3392 A.D., the plotline of the comic is vaguely based upon old Indian Mythology, but all the action takes place in a modern, post-apocalyptic world split in two by World War 3, where protagonist Rama and his companions must defeat the evil Asuras while also preventing the collapse of their home continent.

While it is unlikely to bring any revolution in terms of gameplay, the shift from Western to Indian mythology will be a nice change, albeit one unlikely to convert the masses from current MMO sensation, World of WarCraft.
