Red 5 Studios acquires $18.5M in funding

Filed in archive Game News by Kevin Codamon on December 15, 2006

While we all know about Bill Roper (Diablo and Diablo 2) and his team leaving Blizzard and setting up Flagship Studios (Hellgate London), Another batch of ex Blizzard developers, led by World of Warcraft Team Lead Mark Kern, had also followed suit and established the company known as Red 5 Studios. With such AAA games as Starcraft, Diablo and World of Warcraft under their belts, i'm pretty excited with what they will come up with next.

Recently, Red5 was able to acquire $18.5M in funding while Red5 also signed a deal in January 2006 with Korean MMO developer Webzen to publish a next gen RPG. Hmmm... an unannounced MMO ? Stay tuned.
