McFarlane MMO to debut at Comic Con

Filed in archive Game News on July 18, 2007

Last fall Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling announced he was founding a videogame production house called 38 Studios, with artist Todd McFarlane and best selling author R.A. Salvatore for creative assistance. Later this month the company will be revealing the first of its creations at Comic-Con 2007. The game is a massively-multiplayer online (MMO) affair based on a new intellectual property (IP), featuring the artistic design of McFarlane and storytelling by Salvatore.

The title is apparently fantasy-themed, as Schilling promises the unveiling will please "millions of fantasy MMOG fans worldwide."

No more details have been revealed as of yet, but expect to find out more about this mysterious MMO, the new IP, and 38 Studios at Comic-Con.

"38 Studios' serious star talent has extensive roots in the comic-book industry, making this show a natural forum for our company," said Brett Close, CEO and President of 38 Studios. "At 38 Studios, we are blurring the line between forms of entertainment, including comics, games, movies, and books, to ultimately deliver a unique new world to consumers that is both emotional and entertaining. We will provide a small glimpse into that world at this year's Comic-Con."
