James Cameron's Avatar
Filed in archive Game Reviews on December 28, 2009
Anyone who has been caught up in the hype surrounding James Cameron's latest directorial work Avatar will love the idea of playing the game being released with it. Here you will find an excellent offer from Amazon on the PC version; what better console is there to play a game which will no doubt, like the movie, boast stunning graphics?
You can see a review of the PC release here. The game is set on the alien planet Pandora where the Navi must struggle against the Resources Development Administration sent from Earth. It uses a modified Far Cry II engine, a good choice which does your lush surroundings justice.
On-foot combat mixes with vehicle movement, with some of the most promising elements being helicopter travel and use of the native creatures to Pandora. Apparently the style of movements you must make in Avatar mean that it is best to use a controller with two analogue sticks, though I am sure the most hardened of keyboard users will enjoy it too. When the developers invent a new term to describe how the game will "have minimum suckage", I guess many will find it promising.

Yes I am impressed with the graphics...just viewed the PC version, but i figure that is going need one hell of a PC to run it...so I will wait for the Xbox 360 version to come down in price!

Yea, looking at it myself I am sure it's gonna need the latest graphics cards and a healthy RAM. Well worth the look if you think your PC can take it, if not I'd bet the 360's version is almost as good.

I'm looking forward to this simply for the visuals and exploring the world, regardless of the gameplay, I'll still check it out for that.
