Id's Carmack not sold on Windows Vista?

Filed in archive Game News on January 16, 2007

A report over at IGN states that ID's John Carmack (Doom) isnt jumping on the Vista (and for that matter, DirectX 10's) bandwagon anytime soon.

"There's no massive pull for me for DX10," Carmack told Game Informer. "[Enemy Territories:] Quake Wars is definitely not DX10." Carmack added that he felt a move to Vista is unnecessary at this time. "There were some clear wins going from Windows 95 to Windows XP for games, but there really aren't any for Vista... I suspect I could run XP for a great many more years without having a problem with it."

I dont know about you but DirectX 10 games such as Crysis are looking sweeet, but from a developer standpoint it might be a wise choice not to develop for a platform that isn't yet widespread. They could however develop a game that is both DirectX 9 and DX 10 compatible. What do you guys think?
