Hands On with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

So not only did ID have information on Quake Wars at Quakecon this weekend, they were letting attendees play the game for 15 minutes or so on a single map. The game reminded me more than a little of Battlefield 2. The interface screen looked similar and the gameplay was also very similar. Not that it is a bad thing for the two games to look and feel similar, BF2 is one of my favorite games.
The map we played for the demo pitted the Strogg against the humans. The humans were attempting to build a bridge to gain access to the base that was through a tunnel after the bridge and behind a fortified
position to ultimately destroy the contaminator located inside the facility. I only had the chance to play as a Strogg. The vehicles and weapons are interesting and the graphics were superb. Most certainly they can and will look better on a higher end machine than what the demos were running on. I could tell the graphics weren't cranked up all the way due to the jaggies on straight lines such as bridge rails and walls.
Nonetheless, the game looked great, even if it felt a bit like a BF2 mod from the map we played. The levels are obviously much larger than what Quake multiplayer fans are used to bringing a different feel to multiplayer play with Quake Wars as compared to previous Quake titles.
