Halo 2 Vista wont support DirectX 10?
According to Gamepro, a Microsoft representative contacted them to douse rumors that the Vista version of Halo 2 will be supporting DirectX 10. Instead, Halo 2 for Vista will only feature DirectX 9 effects. Microsoft did say that users who run Halo 2 on DirectX 10 will see "certain performance" benefits.
Thats pretty vague if you ask me but its not a big deal as high end DirectX 9 graphics still look pretty darn spiffy. Halo 2 for Windows Vista is expected to be released in early 2007. How will it fare against DirectX 10 titles such as Crysis?
Gamepro writes:
The confusion apparently stemmed from the fact that Halo 2 will only be released for Microsoft's upcoming Windows Vista platform, which is the only operating system to support the new Direct X 10 graphics standard. Currently, the only video cards to support Direct X 10 are Nvidia's Geforce 8800 line. Even then, their Direct X 10 functionality won't be unlocked until Windows Vista's consumer launch.
