In a rather unsurprising move, Epic Games, creators of the Unreal Engine 3, have countersued Silicon Knights claiming that the original suit is "a cynical effort... to unlawfully enrich (themselves) at the expense of Epic Games".
For those unaware, Silicon Knights were claiming that Epic had sold the company unfinished middleware to finance their own gaming exploits, in this case the massively successful Gears Of War.
Epic however say this claim is utterly baseless, and insist that Silicon Knights have created a fully functioning game with the Unreal Engine 3 in the guise of "Too Human" and are now trying to get back the money they paid to licence the engine from Epic themselves.
The situation is all a bit of a mess, and it is quite hard to see who is in the wrong without all the facts actually being presented, something both companies seem hesitant to do.
