In a german interview with PCGames.de, Crytek bigwig Cevat Yerli has declared that the expansion or sequal, Crysis Warhead, will actually work on normal PCs which don't cost thousands of pounds/dollars/euros. He is claiming that it will run at 35-40fps on a PC which costs 400Euros.... yeah... we'll see about that. A 400euro PC would barely manage Crysis now... so there has to be some serious optimization in the works for that claim to ring true.
