Former Atari man Bushnell has been talking recently about how a new encryption chip is set to end PC piracy forever, by creating uncrackable activation passwords and the like...however, he seems to be a tad behind the times. The TPM chip has been on motherboards for years, and has so far, not been used for anything other than very strong file encryption.
Plus there's the fact that it's already been exploited with the use of OS X on non apple computers, and as with all copyright protections; it will be broken more and more as the pirates get their hands on it.
Copyright protection just doesn't work on a platform as open as the PC is.
