Blizzard's next MMO? Diablo? Starcraft?

Recently, Blizzard's Vice President of Development Itzik Ben Bassat sat down with Empire magazine and discussed their plans for their next MMO. But don't expect anything similar to World of Warcraft or or any of their other games

"When we announce our next MMORPG," Bassat told Empire, "it's not going to be another WoW. We're not a company that tends to tread the same ground. It'll be something innovative and new that really brings entertainment to another level." He also mentioned that the next StarCraft title will be released sooner, rather than later. If any company can top WoW's success, its Blizzard themselves.

Could the next MMO feature another popular Blizzard property? Speaking to IGN last year, Blizzard COO Paul Sams spoke on the potential of new StarCraft and Diablo titles. "There is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2."

With the success that WoW is enjoying i think that Blizzard will be shooting themselves in the foot if they release another MMO that is on the same level. Currently having more than 8 million subscribers and its first expansion pack literally sold out , World of Warcraft sales is still the king of the MMO hill. That doesn't mean that i want Diablo 3 now, now, now! =)
